TEST VERSION β€” record a short test take and play it back before recording an episode. Voice-follow can miss words, and on Android phones it may not work while recording. Scripts and recordings stay on this device; voice-follow (optional) uses your browser's online speech service.

Before a long read: 15-second test

  1. Tap Start recording and allow the microphone when asked.
  2. Say a sentence, then tap Stop & save take.
  3. Play the take, then tap Download and confirm the file appears in your Downloads.

Keep the screen on and this tab in front. Locking the phone, switching apps or taking a call can stop the recording. Recordings stay on this device β€” they aren't sent anywhere. Download a take and send it to the chat yourself.

Two scroll modes. Manual speed mode runs fully on this device. Voice-follow (optional) uses the browser's built-in speech recognition to highlight words as you read and scroll with you. In Chrome this usually sends your audio to Google to turn it into text, so it is not offline. Your saved takes still stay on this device. Recognition can miss words. Ad-libs and skipped lines are allowed. If it stops matching, the text simply waits. Tap any word to jump there.

On Android phones Chrome often lets only one thing use the mic at a time. With voice-follow on, a recording may come out silent, or voice-follow may stop responding. Do a short test first. If either fails, record in manual speed mode and use voice-follow for practice.
